Intercessions 8th February 2026
Heavenly Father, we pray that you are with us this morning as we bring you our thanks and concerns.
We thank you for the slow ending of Winter and small signs of Spring: snowdrops and daffodils, louder birdsong and the gradually changing times of daybreak and sunset. We thank you for all you have given us this past week, things we may not think about, but which are blessings and gifts from you.
Lord hear us
Lord, graciously hear us.
Lord we thank you for this church, a place to worship in peace, with friends, without threat of persecution or war. Hold fast to Christians persecuted for their faith and help them know that your love will uphold them in their difficulties or fear.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us
Father, every day we are bombarded with information about a lack of integrity, about strife, war, cruelty, violence and great evil. We pray against it and its’ deep influence. We pray for our own Government in its seemingly endless trials. Keep us focussed on today, seeing the good things you have given us and freeing us to work to your glory in every way we can.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us
We pray for our church here, giving thanks for all who prepare and lead our services in this building which has prayer and thanksgiving in its’ very stones. We pray for our new Archbishop of Canterbury, for strength and clear-sightedness as she takes on the task of unifying the church with its’ wide range of ideals. Bless our bishop as he learns more about his diocese here in Cornwall.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us.
We bring to you our PCC meeting in this coming week. Guide members to decisions which are right for this church, its’ congregation and everyone living in Ladock parish. Thank you, Lord, for the generosity of parishioners and all who work here: ringing bells, cleaning, arranging flowers, serving refreshments, caring for the churchyard and organising events such as the flower festival and the summer fete. Make us generous givers of our time and funds.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us.
Lord, so many lives have been badly affected by the weather for many weeks. We bring to you all affected by bad weather: injury and loss of life, damage to homes, roads and businesses, the knowledge that so much is beyond our control. We pray for emergency services and all who have worked in darkness and cold helping others including everyone not yet returned to their own home.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us.
We pray for the sick, known to us and known only to you – family, friends and strangers, suffering in body, mind or spirit. We ask your healing hands to be on all in pain and distress. In such cold and wet weather, we pray for the homeless, particularly those attempting to sleep outdoors. Make us generous to charities such as St Petroc’s, the Salvation Army and the Royal British Legion and bless the work they do. We pray for the bereaved in their sorrow and in a moment’s quiet, everyone known to us who needs to feel the comfort of your presence: ...…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Lord, graciously hear us.
Heavenly Father, as we move towards Lent, the time leading up to the death and resurrection of your Son, we pray for peace and life everlasting for all who have died recently, known to us and known only to you. Hold their loved ones in their sorrow. In a moment’s silence we bring our prayers to you, remembering especially………………………………………………………………….……………………………

May they rest in peace and rise in glory
Heavenly Father, in the week ahead, help us pass to you all which worries us: what we will eat and drink, how we are clothed, how we will pay for necessities, what tomorrow may bring, perhaps even how will we get through the day. Lift us from these thoughts to a place of calm acceptance, having faith that you are at our side in all things.
Merciful Father, accept these prayers, for the sake of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
