Intercessions for Candlemas on Feb 1st 2026
Heavenly Father we give thanks to you for bringing us to church today to be able to spend time with you in worship and praise. We think upon those who for whatever reason are unable to be with us in our church home and ask you to bless them all.
As we prepare ourselves this morning let us clear our thoughts and minds to be able to concentrate upon you only.
Lord in thy Mercy --- Hear our prayer
Today we celebrate Candlemas, the presentation of Christ in the temple. Christ who is the Light of the world we pray for the church to be a beacon of hope, bringing light into dark places, breaking down barriers of fear, injustice and misunderstanding.
Like Simeon and Anna may we have the eyes of faith to recognise Christ’s presence in our lives and the world today, especially in the marginalized, the elderly and the vulnerable.
Lord in they Mercy --- hear our prayer
Lord, give us grace to always walk in your light. We pray for an end to wars and conflicts. We pray for guidance and peace and for our world leaders to be guided by you and for your peace to rule in our hearts as we move towards the season of Lent.
We especially remember this morning those who still suffer from the effects of the Holocaust upon their families and we pray that such atrocities may never again be repeated.
Lord in thy mercy----- Hear our prayer.
Lord, we ask of you to care for our friends and families. For those welcoming new life and for the dedication of children. May they, like the Holy family, grow in wisdom and find refuge in God.
We pray for our Parish schools here at Ladock and at Grampound Road. We ask Lord that the children spend happy, healthy years during their education.
Lord in thy Mercy------ hear our prayer
Heavenly Father, we ask you to bless and be with all those who are in trouble at this time. Today we especially remember all those who have been affected by the severe weather conditions. Those that have lost their lifetime possessions and homes. Those whose homes are contaminated by natures resource’s and are uninhabitable.
We ask you Lord to have mercy on those who are homeless, wet and cold.
In our prayers today we pray for those in our own parish who have been affected. As neighbours let us all help where we can.
We pray for our farmers who struggle in very difficult conditions.
We give thanks to all that risk their lives helping restore power. Clearing trees and maintaining safety on our roads and rivers at the present time.
Compassionate Lord we pray that you may be with them all as they seek to restore safety once more.
Lord in thy Mercy--- hear our pray
We pray for all those who are unwell at this time whether in mind, body or spirit. Lord, have compassion upon them. We pray for those who feel that they have nowhere to turn to and nowhere to go. Lord we pray that you may help them see that they are not alone. We ask you to bless carers who often live with anxiety and stress. In, our own community we ask you to bless all those in need.
Lord in thy Mercy—hear our prayer
We give grateful thanks for all the good things that are happening within our Parish as we look forward to the Ladock Players, the Re-dedication of our Bells, the Flower Festival, our Annual fete and the monthly coffee mornings and we ask you to bestow your blessing on all those who work to enable others to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Lord in thy Mercy—hear our prayer
Heavenly Father we pray for all those who may be bereaved at this time.
We pray for any who have died unexpectedly through accident or violence and those who lives have come to a natural end. Lord, we pray that you may care for their souls as thy rest in peace.
May they rest in peace and rise in Glory.
Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of thy dear son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen .
