LADOCK CHURCH

Intercessions for Sunday 4th January 2026

The Epiphany 4th January 2026 Intercessions

Almighty and everlasting God, who by the guidance of a star led the wise men from the eastern lands to adore the new born king:  We praise you for giving your son Jesus Christ to be the light of the world, and for revealing in him your saving love to all mankind.

We praise you for the light of the everlasting gospel sent forth to every nation and race and shining so long among us.

As the Wise Men were led to worship the infant Jesus, so lead the church to know you more clearly and to do your work on earth more faithfully…….. Give us deeper reverence in our worship, humbly to adore the mystery of the incarnation.

Lord in thy Mercy------ Hear our prayer

Our Father, as we remember at this time the story of the Wise men and the gifts they brought to the infant king , we pray that we in our turn may offer him the gold of obedience, the incense of lowliness and the myrrh of devotion; and all for his honour and praise.

Lord in thy mercy---- hear our prayer

Draw those with authority and influence to acknowledge the lordship of Christ……Teach those who control the resources of the world to use them responsibly………. Turn the hearts of those who only work for their own interests and bring them to love others in the freedom of your service.

Lord in thy mercy----- Hear our prayer

We ask you Lord to bless our own community here at Ladock and we pray for those who have recently moved to our closeknit community.

Help those who work in our local community and those whom we meet or work with to offer their talents for the good of all………….. Make us witnesses to your truth through the quiet offering of our lives.

Lord in thy Mercy—hear our prayer

Lord, bring reconciliation to families broken by infidelity or misunderstanding.

Have mercy on orphaned and neglected children……. Visit and relieve the homeless and those driven out by war or persecution.

Lord in thy Mercy------------- Hear our prayer.

Compassionate Lord, care for the many that are unwell in mind, body or spirit at this time and we pray for any known to us personally in our own parish.

Lord, we ask you to show compassion on those who feel the need to be unkind and undermine and belittle others to make themselves feel good. Teach them Lord, that in Gods eyes all are equal.

Lord in thy Mercy----- Hear our Prayer

Heavenly father we pray for all those that mourn at this time.

Today we especially pray for the friends and relatives of those who lost their lives to the sea during this Christmas. We offer prayers for the many who are severely injured or traumatised by the fire in Switzerland. May those who lost their lives rest in peace. Lord may any affected or caught up in this horror find comfort in your love Lord.

Lord in thy Mercy------ hear our Prayer

We pray for all those who have died in childhood that their lives may be fulfilled in eternal life….. comfort those who mourn for them in the knowledge that they are free from all suffering and are close to you for ever.

We ask Lord that any who died or years mind falls at this time may rest in peace and rise in Glory.

Merciful Lord, accept these prayers for the sake of your dear son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
