Easter 3
Alleluia alleluia We give praise to our Risen Lord
We rejoice in all the Bible readings we have heard over the past few weeks : The forty days and
nights in the wilderness; the temptations of our Lord Jesus: the raising of Lazarus, Palm Sunday – all
the accounts of Holy Week: Good Friday; the Resurrection; Thomas and his belief and today’s Road
to Emmaus. We may not experience that Warm Feeling in our Hearts everyday – but we praise you
for those times when, like the disciples on their way to Emmaus, we suddenly are aware of your
close presence. Help us to share that quickening of our souls with all those around us.
Lord, hear us Lord, graciously hear us
We pray for your church throughout the world – for all who worship you in whatever form or
language. We ask for your special care and encouragement for those who face danger for the sake
of their faith.
We pray for our Archbishop, our Bishop and all the Clergy who help within our team. We thank you
that we have Pat here with us again this morning.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
We live in anxious times – and we pray for peace throughout the world. Father grant integrity and
wisdom to all those who exercise power in our world. May honest desire for justice and peace
prevail against self- interest, self- glorification and corruption.
Blessed are the peacemakers.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us
We ask God for his blessings on our community – for our children as they go back to school and for
all those who teach and look after them Father, may our schools be places where all children know
that they are valued and cherished and may they be encouraged to grow to their full potential
Lord, hear us Lord, graciously hear us
We pray to God for all who need his special care. Father be very close to those who are sick in mind
body or spirit and to all who care for them. Grant them tenderness and patience. Father we pray
for the lonely, for the worried and for those who face the end of their lives here on earth.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
We pray for those who mourn and those who have died recently. May they rest in peace and rise in
glory.
When we look around at our beautiful county and see the wild flowers, new leaves on trees, geese
flying overhead – free to come and go at will; when we hear birds singing in our gardens and the
sound of sheep and lambs over hedges, Lord, in awesome wonder we consider all the works thy
hand has made, and our souls sing out “O Lord our God – How Great Thou art.”

Merciful Father
Accept these prayers
For the sake of your Son
Our Saviour Jesus Christ
Amen
