Shirley's Harvest Prayers 2025
We have come together today to give thanks and praise for the harvest of the land and sea and the goodness that God has given to each and every one of us.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit keep the church faithful to the teachings, entrusted to her. Make your people obedient servants, seeking no reward but to do your will.
Grant to those in authority care and consideration for those who serve. Stir up in all good people the knowledge of your gifts, that all may seek the good of others.

Almighty God, we are taught by your word that for our daily needs we are dependant not only on the work of many hands but also on your providence and fatherly care.
Today and every day we praise you for your abundant gifts to us in nature by which the earth is enriched and made fruitful, and for the labours of those by whom the harvest is gathered in.
Today we especially remember our fishermen who often go out in treacherous weather to feed our needs and our own farmers who toil long, lonely hours to bring in our crops.
We remember all the market gardeners at home and further afield who toil to grow to fill our supermarket shelves of fresh produce daily. We offer up thanks to you Lord for those who work tirelessly to harvest sugar cane and the processers who strive to meet the nations needs in either dried or canned form in so many food stuffs.
Lord, make us ever thankful for all that we receive and teach us that in the whole of life that we are workers together with you, the author and giver of all good things.
Lord in thy mercy Hear our prayer.
We rejoice, Lord that you have made the earth so rich in natural resources; and we pray that we may learn to use them responsibly: not wasting them , not polluting the soil, the air or the sea, not wantonly destroying the life of animals or plants: but taking care to hand on to others an earth fit for the life of man and to the honour of your name.
Lord in thy Mercy Hear our prayer
We thank you Lord and creator of all things, for the blessings of this life and the abundant variety of your gifts; for all the food we eat and the pleasure that it gives us. As we share our harvest lunch today may we be ever mindful of those who may be hungry.
We know that there are many millions that have less while others eat to excess.Food is wasted while millions starve.
Let us stop nature’s resources being misused and bringing men profit. Forgive us Lord our selfishness and open our hearts to the needs of others.
Lord, help us to think of those in need and actively do something to help alleviate their needs. We ask this in your name Lord.

Heavenly Father we pray for the people of Manchester and especially the Jewish community following the terrorist attack against them this past week on Yom Kippur at the Heaton Park synagogue. Lord let us pray for all those caught up in the event, those who have been traumatised, the fearful and the families of those who have died and we pray for the souls of those taken in violence.

Heavenly Father, we ask you to bless our own community of Ladock and our church family. We pray for those not with us today. We extend our thoughts and prayers to our families and friends where ever they are in the world and we ask you Lord to bless them all.
Lord, we thank you for allowing us the freedom and time with you to prepare for Harvest at Ladock church today. A special time when we can offer our gifts in whatever form to you, for we know without you we are barren and desolate.
Have mercy on all those whose work is heavy and brings little reward. Strengthen those who labour for the spread of the Gospel in difficulty and persecution.
We ask you Lord to bless all who are unwell and this morning we especially ask you to bless Julie and her household.

Let us pray for any we know to be in mourning at this time and we remember the people of Manchester and ask you to be with them.
Father, we pray for any who may have died this past week and any known specifically to each of us.
May all those who have died, Rest in Peace and rise in Glory.
Merciful Lord accept these prayers for the sake of thy dear son our saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
