Online Morning Prayer for Trinity 3, Sunday 6th July 2025

Morning Prayer on Sunday
Sunday, 6 July 2025
The Third Sunday after Trinity

Preparation

O Lord, open our lips
All      and our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Blessed are you, Sovereign God, creator of all,
to you be glory and praise for ever.
You founded the earth in the beginning
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
In the fullness of time you made us in your image,
and in these last days you have spoken to us
in your Son Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh.
As we rejoice in the gift of your presence among us
let the light of your love always shine in our hearts,
your Spirit ever renew our lives
and your praises ever be on our lips.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
All         Blessed be God for ever

after Lancelot Andrewes (1626)

3     Bless the Lord you angels of the Lord:
sing his praise and exalt him for ever.

4     Bless the Lord all people on earth:
sing his praise and exalt him for ever.

5     O people of God bless the Lord:
sing his praise and exalt him for ever.

6      Bless the Lord you priests of the Lord:
sing his praise and exalt him for ever.

7      Bless the Lord you servants of the Lord:
sing his praise and exalt him for ever.

8     Bless the Lord all you of upright spirit:
bless the Lord you that are holy and humble in heart.

The Song of the Three 35-37, 60-65

All      Bless the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit:
sing his praise and exalt him for ever.

This opening prayer may be said

The night has passed, and the day lies open before us;
let us pray with one heart and mind.

Silence is kept.

As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,
so may the light of your presence, O God,
set our hearts on fire with love for you;
now and for ever.

All     Amen.

The Word of God

Psalmody

Psalm 66

Praise for God’s Goodness to Israel

To the leader. A Song. A Psalm.

Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth;
 sing the glory of his name;
 give to him glorious praise.
Say to God, ‘How awesome are your deeds!
 Because of your great power, your enemies cringe before you.
All the earth worships you;
 they sing praises to you,
 sing praises to your name.’Selah

Come and see what God has done:
 he is awesome in his deeds among mortals.
He turned the sea into dry land;
 they passed through the river on foot.
There we rejoiced in him,
 who rules by his might for ever,
whose eyes keep watch on the nations—
 let the rebellious not exalt themselves.Selah

Bless our God, O peoples,
 let the sound of his praise be heard,

All Glory to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning is now
and shall be for ever. Amen.

Old Testament Reading

Isaiah 66:10-14

10 Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her,
 all you who love her;
rejoice with her in joy,
 all you who mourn over her—
11 that you may nurse and be satisfied
 from her consoling breast;
that you may drink deeply with delight
 from her glorious bosom.

12 For thus says the Lord:
I will extend prosperity to her like a river,
 and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing stream;
and you shall nurse and be carried on her arm,
 and dandled on her knees.
13 As a mother comforts her child,
 so I will comfort you;
 you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

The Reign and Indignation of God

14 You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice;
 your bodies shall flourish like the grass;
and it shall be known that the hand of the Lord is with his servants,
 and his indignation is against his enemies.

Song of David

Refrain:

All Splendour and majesty are yours, O God;
you are exalted as head over all.

1    Blessed are you, God of Israel, for ever and ever,
for yours is the greatness, the power,
the glory, the splendour and the majesty.

2  Everything in heaven and on earth is yours;
yours is the kingdom, O Lord,
and you are exalted as head over all.

3  Riches and honour come from you
and you rule over all.

4     In your hand are power and might;
yours it is to give power and strength to all.

And now we give you thanks, our God,
and praise your glorious name.

For all things come from you,
and of your own have we given you.

1 Chronicles 29.10b-13, 14b

All  Glory to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning is now
and shall be for ever. Amen.

All  Splendour and majesty are yours, O God;
you are exalted as head over all.

New Testament Reading

Galatians 6:7-16

Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow. If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit. So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. 10 So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.

Final Admonitions and Benediction

11 See what large letters I make when I am writing in my own hand! 12 It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh that try to compel you to be circumcised—only that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 Even the circumcised do not themselves obey the law, but they want you to be circumcised so that they may boast about your flesh. 14 May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is anything; but a new creation is everything! 16 As for those who will follow this rule—peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

Gospel Reading

Luke 10:1-11

The Mission of the Seventy

10 After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go. He said to them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest. Go on your way. See, I am sending you out like lambs into the midst of wolves. Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, “Peace to this house!” And if anyone is there who shares in peace, your peace will rest on that person; but if not, it will return to you. Remain in the same house, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the labourer deserves to be paid. Do not move about from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and its people welcome you, eat what is set before you; cure the sick who are there, and say to them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.”[b] 10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say, 11 “Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off in protest against you. Yet know this: the kingdom of God has come near.”

Luke 10:16-20

16 ‘Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me, and whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.’

The Return of the Seventy

17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, in your name even the demons submit to us!’ 18 He said to them, ‘I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning. 19 See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing will hurt you. 20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.’

Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead
All And Christ shall give you light.
You have died and your life is hid with Christ in God.

 All Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead.
Set your minds on things that are above,
not on things that are on the earth.
All  A Christ shall give you light.
When Christ our life appears you will appear with him in glory.

All   Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead,
and Christ shall give you light.

from Colossians 3

Gospel Canticle

The Benedictus (The Song of Zechariah)

Refrain:

All You have raised up for us a mighty Saviour,
born of the house of your servant David.

1Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel,
who has come to his people and set them free.

2He has raised up for us a mighty Saviour,
born of the house of his servant David.

3Through his holy prophets God promised of old
to save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all that hate us,

4To show mercy to our ancestors,
and to remember his holy covenant.

5This was the oath God swore to our father Abraham:
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,

6Free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.

7And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High,
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

8To give his people knowledge of salvation
by the forgiveness of all their sins.

9In the tender compassion of our God
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

10To shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Luke 1.68-79

All Glory to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning is now
and shall be for ever. Amen.

Refrain:

All You have raised up for us a mighty Saviour,
born of the house of your servant David.

Prayers

The Collect of the day is said

Almighty God,
you have broken the tyranny of sin
and have sent the Spirit of your Son into our hearts
 whereby we call you Father:
give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service,
that we and all creation may be brought
 to the glorious liberty of the children of God;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

 All Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer is said

Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us

All Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

The Conclusion

The Lord bless us, and preserve us from all evil,
and keep us in eternal life.

All  Amen.

Let us bless the Lord.
All Thanks be to God.
