Message from the Rector
Ow sos ger,
As you know, the diocese have coined the phrase ‘Growing Younger’ to describe its missional focus for the coming years. This has been based on various facts and stories emerging from our churches concerned about the demographics of our church congregations. Locally, I have also been involved in such conversations where people have expressed their fears about who they will pass their baton of faith or, perhaps, responsibility on to as there seems to be fewer people around.
As you know there is also a specific focus on ensuring that every person in the village, town or city has access to a worshipping community where they can be encouraged in their journey of faith and perhaps learn the values of coming together in community under the umbrella of all God’s children and as followers of Christ.
As such, I have previously shared with you a vision for working with the schools in our patch. We have a mix of church schools and non-church schools. And we have an opportunity to share with them our Christian faith. Not to indoctrinate them. But to show them the reasons why Christian faith is important to us, and the way this interacts with our values, morals, activities and the way we live life. We can also offer an invitation to experience prayer, to experience something of the mystery of God.
And so, I would like to form a team with people from each of our churches that will help to lead this form of witness to our schools encouraging, where we are able, for children to come into the church building, also for us to go into school. This will build on the work that has already been going on with collective worship, end of term services, and open the book.
All volunteers for this team will need to be safely recruited adhering to the C of E procedure for recruitment into roles. Please do get in touch with me as soon as possible as we have two potential visits planned already for Easter.
One event called Easter Explorers, possibly at Probus, run by Clare Green, our creation care advisor from the diocese, and Experience Easter Outdoors at Grampound with Creed School. We need as many people as possible to help with resources, planning and prep, as well as delivering the activities. Please contact me if you are interested.
Gras ha kres,
Caroline
A prayer to inspire our vision and mission written by Revd Pam McNaughton National Lead on growing leaders
Loving God,
We bring to you the children, young people and families of our nation.
We pray for those who already know they are your children.
Please protect them, bless them and keep them firm in their faith. We pray for those who would like to find out more about you. Please provide ways for them to do that, and help us all to play our part.
We pray for those who know little or nothing about Christian faith. Please stir up curiosity in them to find out more and in your mercy give them encounters with you that transform their lives.
In the name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.

Collect for Sunday
Almighty God,
you have created the heavens and the earth
and made us in your own image:
teach us to discern your hand in all your works
and your likeness in all your children;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who with you and the Holy Spirit reigns supreme over all things,
now and for ever.
Amen

Our midweek home groups are a real blessing to be part of, a place where we share life, faith, and friendship. It’s often the first to hear when someone needs prayer or has good news to share.
We hope these groups will continue to grow and welcome new members as we journey together in faith.
For details about the different midweek home groups you can join, please contact the home group leaders.
Grampound with Creed meets on Thursday evenings (weekly) with William & Ruth Trinnick (various locations)
Probus meets on Tuesday evenings (fortnightly) with Scott and Sue Hall
Probus will be meeting Thursday evenings (fortnightly) with Liz and Chris Marshman. Please contact Liz on 07525 456434.
Tresillian - We are hoping to begin a daytime group in Tresillian, more news to follow, but if you would like to offer your home please let Rev. Caroline know.

Wedding Planning Day
Saturday 14th February, 11am - 3pm
As we look ahead to the upcoming wedding preparation day, we invite everyone to keep the engaged couples joining Caroline in your prayers. This is a meaningful time of reflection, learning, and spiritual growth as they prepare for the lifelong commitment of marriage. May their day be filled with encouragement, wisdom, and a deep sense of God’s presence as they take these important steps together.
We also extend a heartfelt invitation to those who feel called to serve. Volunteers are needed to assist with food preparation and hospitality, helping to create a welcoming and nurturing environment for the couples. Your time and support, whether big or small, will play an important role in making the day run smoothly and joyfully, please contact Sara Edwardes if you can help.
Thank you for praying, serving, and being part of this special journey.

Dear All,
It has come to my attention that it was not clear that people are required to book their place for this event so that caterers know how much food to make! You are also required to alert us for any dietary needs. Please contact Ann Holland either in person or by email to book your place pcc.secretary@probus.church

Generosity and Stewardship Matters
Financially Supporting your church
The Parish Giving Scheme is our preferred method of receiving regular giving within the churches of Probus, Ladock and Grampound. If you haven't already transferred from other forms of giving then do check out how it works through the link here or by contacting your treasurer.
Please do consider whether this is a good time to review your regular giving at the church, or perhaps you would like to plan for a future donation and leave a gift in your will. The Church of England has produced guidance on legacy giving which you can find here

Your Benefice Bulletin needs you!
Our weekly Benefice Bulletin is a vital way we share news, services, and events across our churches and we’re looking for someone who would be willing to take on publishing it each week.
The role involves preparing and sending the bulletin email using Mailchimp, so confidence with computers and basic software is essential. That said, full start-up support and guidance will be provided, so you won’t be thrown in at the deep end!
If you enjoy working with emails, like things to be clear and well-presented, and would like to offer a valuable service to the benefice, we’d love to hear from you.
If you’re interested, or would like to know more before deciding, please get in touch via bulletin@probus.church. Matthew Hodge
