Upper Fal Parishes

Weekly Bulletin w/c 7th July 2025

Dear Friends,

As you know, I have been away for a few days visiting my children in Nottingham and Loughborough. Both children have changed homes in the last couple of months and are intent on settling where they are, getting to know their local community and making new friends. I talked to them about their local churches, I went armed with information and recommendations from people who have settled here having come from those particular towns. The Church when it is operating well, when it is intent on following the teachings of Jesus, when it is concerned for the welfare of others more than its own existence is a wonderful place to get to know people, to develop relationships, to grow in faith and trust as we see God’s love unfolding in the relationships and communities around us.

I would love for our churches to be places where people of all ages feel welcomed and valued as part of the local community and church family. It is also the hope and vision of Truro Diocese that we will see more intergenerational worship across our churches and as such the diocese are investing in mission to the lower age groups in particular children, young people and families, this will also include the schools across the Upper Fal Parishes. Of course, people in between the young and the senior are also integral members of the Church and the reality is that each of our churches has room for more people to come.

As part of the investment  towards growing the local church, I have been asked if I would undertake a course next year which will be funded by the national Church as part of a pilot.
In preparation for this I would like to ask you to pray to ask God who, how and when God is calling up to reach out to our communities. I would like you to meet up with others to pray together and talk through the visions and dreams that will follow and, of course, I would love to hear about all this so that I can pray alongside you.

I would also like to ask you to pray for the current provision and hopes for extension that we have, we need to ask God to stir hearts and rise up workers as “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Luke 10:2NIV)

You might like to add this prayer from the LYCIG team (leading your church into growth) to your prayers:
God of Mission
Who alone brings growth to your Church,
Send your Holy Spirit to give

  • Vision tour planning,
  • Wisdom to our actions,
  • Joy to our worship, and
  • power to our witness.

Help your church to grow in numbers, in spiritual commitment to you, and in service to our local community,
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen

Grace and peace,
Caroline

Upper Fal Prayer Ministry
We now have a small but dedicated group of people who are willing to pray for the needs of others as and when there is need. You are welcome to make requests for prayer, these will be said in private by those interceding and will be held confidentially -the idea being that no one will discover who any of the pray-ers are, so there will be no reference made back to you about your prayer request except by the person the request was made to! This proviso is made so that when prayer is answered that we might encourage the prayer team. You are also welcome to ask for prayer for family, friends or neighbours, please let them know that the Church will be praying for them in their time of need. This will be encouraging for the wider community as they already suspect that the Church prays but don’t necessarily know how or what! No request is too small or too large. If you or, someone you know, is concerned or anxious about something let us know and we will pray for you/them.
If you would like to find out more about or join this prayer group please get in touch with me, Revd Caroline (01726 337730).

Generosity and Stewardship Matters

Financially Supporting your church

The Parish Giving Scheme is our preferred method of receiving regular giving within the churches of Probus, Ladock and Grampound. If you haven't already transferred from other forms of giving then do check out how it works through the link here or by contacting your treasurer.

Please do consider whether this is a good time to review your regular giving at the church, or perhaps you would like to plan for a future donation and leave a gift in your will.  The Church of England has produced guidance on legacy giving  which you can find here
