Message from the Rector

Last week was a very special week. It began with our first wedding of the season, which took place at St Crida’s as we celebrated the marriage between Molly Jenkins and Josh Little. They were accompanied by the soft tweeting of the swifts who have taken up residence in the porchway. We also have weddings taking place over the next few weeks in Ladock and Probus. A great cause of celebration for local families and communities.

Another source of celebration were the two baptisms that took place one for baby Alma and the second for Eve, a new member to the church at Probus. It is a great joy and privilege to come alongside those wanting to explore the Christian faith and to experience in some way the delight that people experience as they come to realise and understand the great love that God has for all his children.

One of the questions I find myself asking is about ‘how do we as a church disciple those wanting to learn more about faith, who want to deepen their experience of God, who want, in the words of the ancient saints, ‘to be set on fire with love for God’?

We do have three homegroups across the Upper Fal Parishes, and I know that one or two go elsewhere to groups that are convenient to them. Home groups can be a great source of support both spiritually and pastorally, as well as presenting opportunities to dig in deeper to bible passages and to explore with others the fullness of God’s love. If you are interested in belonging to a home group or would be willing to host one in your own home -please do get in touch.

For those who are new to faith or simply have questions about the Christian faith I am hoping to start a new group. If you know of someone who might like to know more please do get in touch.

Events and News from Mothers' Union in Cornwall

Please find below some exciting events coming up, at various locations across the county.

Mothers' Union Open Afternoon with speaker on cyber security (14.00 - 16.00, Thursday 18th June in the Chapter House, Truro Cathedral)
Women's retreat days organised by Methodist Women in Britain (10.30 - 15.00 on Saturdays at Talland Bay on 27th June and Helston on 4th July)
Mothers' Union Quiet Day 'Hidden Treasure' (10.30 - 15.30, Thursday 23rd July, St Endellion Church and Hall)

All these events are open to all denominations and everyone is warmly invited!

In addition, please keep your offers to loan your Mothers' Union banner for the 'Love in every Stitch' exhibition at Truro Cathedral this August coming in.
