Ow sos ger,
Over the past few weeks, we have been delving deeper into the vision and then mission of Jesus, his vision drew on the words by the prophet Isaiah
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour. (Luke 4: 18,19)
Jesus went on to declare that this day, this scripture has been fulfilled. Since the beginning of Ordinary Time we have been delving into what it meant for followers of Jesus to become part of his discipleship, we have been re-reading the cost that was involved for those followers as they sought to live their lives in such a way as to bring light and love into the world around them, the promise of what is to come as we experience heaven. Jesus said many times, the kingdom of God/heaven is close at hand...he was not foreseeing anyone's imminent death but rather that they were witnessing the values, beliefs and attitudes of God, their Father in Heaven and as we pray in the Lords; prayer enabling the world to experience 'thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven'. The scriptures have been hard for us to hear and to study, and I know a few comments have been made that we want to hear sunny and hopeful messages...we do! But we must also explore if there is in any way that we are holding back from offering to Jesus our all. The readings have explored those areas that we like to keep deeply hidden within ourselves and not let out into the light. The things we can often be ashamed of. The invitation is to take them out, accept culpability and repent, not hiding them away but releasing them to God, allowing him to receive our prayer and for us to receive his mercy. He does not want for us to be doubled up in anguish. This week we have been invited to consider the full cost, that as we choose to follow Jesus, to know that it may well cost us our relationships as it did Jesus when he was led to the cross. Many of us wear a cross, a daily reminder that living his way is costly, even so, we determine that we will do so. May you be richly blessed as you follow him and discover the freedom that doing so gives,

Father Greg has asked me to inform you that he and Joyce will shortly be moving to Devon. And when I say shortly, it will be Mon 15th September!
This will mean that Greg and Joyce will be very much within reach of their wonderful family.
I am sure that many of you will be thankful, as I have been, for their support, the quiet word, the enthusiasm and love that Greg and Joyce have shared with us as they have practiced their ministry amongst us.
Greg and Joyce,
Thank you for your kind, thoughtful and generous way of being amongst us, go with our blessing and our gratitude, and know that we will forgive you as you unlearn our Cornish ways and put jam on top of cream!
gras ha kres,
Caroline

I am currently looking to set up a small team of people who would be willing to open and close the church each day of the week. In the past Steve as Church warden has overseen this, however, now that he has retired from this position we need to think again about how we can manage to keep the church open. The church is widely used by everyone in the community for personal prayer, community group sessions, as well as toddler group, community larder and other things from time to time.
Responsibilities of the role would include
Opening up: unlocking the door, and turning on a couple of lights inside.
Locking up: ensuring that no one is inside, the toilet is locked, lights are off and doors are locked.
It would be helpful to have a small team of people who would be willing either to take a day each, or a regular day...and that you might be willing to cover each other for sickness or holidays.
Please contact me asap if you can help,
Caroline

One minute they need you, the next you’re the most embarrassing person alive!
This stage of their development is full of change, so Tweens and Teens has been designed to offer hope and help to mums, dads and carers, through the turbulence of the tween years and beyond.
On top of the raging hormones and mood swings, our children are pulling away and becoming their own person. So, how can we give them the freedom to grow without letting them wander into chaos?
At this event, we’ll explore principles that will equip you to come alongside your child as they try and establish their identity, assert their independence and find their place in the world.
You’ll come away with…
- A better understanding of what’s going on in their brains
- Practical ways to stay connected with your child whilst letting them go
- Strategies to keep your child safe, both in the real world and online
- Ways to help your child establish their identity and develop independence
- Increased confidence in how you, and your child, can thrive during this crucial stage in their development
- Bonus content to watch at home to help you with even more specific issues

Financially Supporting your church
The Parish Giving Scheme is our preferred method of receiving regular giving within the churches of Probus, Ladock and Grampound. If you haven't already transferred from other forms of giving then do check out how it works through the link here or by contacting your treasurer.
Please do consider whether this is a good time to review your regular giving at the church, or perhaps you would like to plan for a future donation and leave a gift in your will. The Church of England has produced guidance on legacy giving which you can find here
