Dear Friends,
RESURRECTION CATERPILLARS!
Spring.
Everything in the garden is lovely.
The flowers are out. And so are the weeds!
All is a riot of busyness. Flies. Bees. Grubs.
You know that the warm season of Spring brings out the flowers. They advertise their presence by bright colours to attract insects and butterflies to pollenate and so procreate.
The season also brings out greedy caterpillars.
The caterpillars that munch munch munch.
That seems to be their sole purpose in life.
Like some humans they just concentrate on what they can get.
Grabbing
Working just for the day.
The moment. The immediate.
Only working for what they can see and understand with their five senses.
Thinking little about the future.
Then things start to deteriorate and life becomes rigid.
Brown,
The inevitable happens and life stops.
Dead.
The caterpillar has ceased to munch his lunch.
But has life really ceased?
We know for the caterpillar, yes it has.
His world is over.
The caterpillar has little knowledge of the future.
What it holds and understands doesn’t mean that in God’s creation nothing will happen!
Two caterpillars were munching and talking and seeing a butterfly one said to the other
“You’ll never get me up in one of those things!”
So caterpillar time passes.
Metamorphosis.
Transformation.
Incredible and previously unknown change.
For the caterpillar it’s a miracle.
Resurrection!
A new face.
Colour! New bright patterns.
Power. Flying! Soaring.
Travelling great distances to places unknown and un-conceived before.
Now possessing a wider view of God’s purpose and his wonderful creation.
And with greater understanding.
Resurrection!
Butterfly life for we caterpillars.

Probus' Song of the Month
Breakthrough (All Heaven Declares) by Taylor & Co Worship. It's been chosen by Mary, one of the singers in the Worship Group. She says
"I like it because it's very joyful. I saw her sing it live at New Wine festival last year and I got to meet her. I found it very moving in worship and I fell in love with the song. It's quite easy to learn the tune and rhythms.".

The eagled-eared amongst us will recognise the tune she samples, it's the chorus of All Heaven Declares by Noel and Tricia Richards. We look forward to singing it at St Probus and St Grace on the third Sunday of May.

Generosity and Stewardship Matters
Financially Supporting your church
The Parish Giving Scheme is our preferred method of receiving regular giving within the churches of Probus, Ladock and Grampound. If you haven't already transferred from other forms of giving then do check out how it works through the link here or by contacting your treasurer.
Please do consider whether this is a good time to review your regular giving at the church, or perhaps you would like to plan for a future donation and leave a gift in your will. The Church of England has produced guidance on legacy giving which you can find at https://www.churchofengland.org/faith-life/church-legacy.
