Upper Fal Parishes Bulletin for Lent 5

Upper Fal Parishes

Weekly Bulletin

Dear Friends,

Dear Friends,
On Saturday I took a little trip out to St Michael Penkivel -and took this photo..

do you know what it came from?

Each of our churches have many distinguishing details, evidence of how people through different generations, have contributed their skills to the wonder and worship that has taken place over the years. This call to surrender our best to the glory of God is one that doesn't disappear.

We are in APCM season, it is a time to celebrate all that the Church has been doing, recognising its calling from God to be a physical presence within each of our communities, over the previous year. It is hoped that we may also discern how God might be calling us to witness and reach out in mission to our communities over the following year or two.

If your APCM is yet to take place, please can I encourage you to attend, the meeting will be much richer and more exciting if you are able to come and take part. It doesn't mean that you will have your arm twisted to take on a role that you would really rather not! Having said that, It is healthy and recognised as good practice that each year there is a change of some members on the PCC, this will help to make sure that a wider voice is heard and that there is wider contribution towards the vision of the Church.

As disciples of Christ, we each have a part to play, we are gifted and skilled in different areas and when we 'pool' this together we discover that, through Christ, we have every thing and every one we need to commit to the vision and calling that God places on us in this season.

In St Paul's first letter to the Corinthians (ch 12) we read
"But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.
26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it"

So let us contnue in our efforts to be a people that bless one another, a people that gives thanks, a people that loves, and a people of joy.

We have had some enquiries about confirmation, please can I ask for each of you to pray for these potential candidates. If you yourself, or know of someone who might be interested in learning more about confirmation please do phone or email me.

I believe that taking the next step in our journeys of faith are always about discerning the path together, so if confirmation might be the thing you need to consider next or perhaps taking on a role within church such as reading the lesson, leading the people in prayer (intercessions), pastoral visiting, leading worship, preaching or teaching please do give me a call and we can discern togeher how God might be calling you.

Alongside these ministries there are other ways in which we offer ministry through loving actions such as through service i.e. hospitality and being on the rota for refreshments, or welcome, church cleaning. You may also have particular skills such as adminsitration, finance, playing musical instruments, sewing,
gardening and, other craftwork. There are myriad ways in which you might be able to support your church, but the most important of all is to pray. Please pray for mission and ministry of your church, for those in leadership roles, for those who take on the unseen jobs, and that Gods love will spill out into your neighbourhood.

grace and peace,
Caroline

Probus🎵Song of the Month🎵
is Forever by Kari Jobe. It's a song all about the Easter story, and it'll form part of the Easter Sunday service in Probus.

In an interview Kari talks about how she kept thinking about the word 'Forever' and how forever Jesus will be lifted high, worshipped and glorified - and how she wanted to paint a poetic picture of Jesus coming to earth to die for our sins.

Financially Supporting your church

The Parish Giving Scheme is our preferred method of receiving regular giving within the churches of Probus, Ladock and Grampound. If you haven't already transferred from other forms of giving then do check out how it works through the link here or by contacting your treasurer.

Please do consider whether this is a good time to review your regular giving at the church, or perhaps you would like to plan for a future donation and leave a gift in your will.  The Church of England has produced guidance on legacy giving  which you can find at https://www.churchofengland.org/faith-life/church-legacy
