Together @ 10 Team Service at St Erme
It will be great for as many of us across the Upper Fal Parishes Benefice to come together this Sunday morning at 10am.
To assist with the visit, it’s best to highlight some local geography that may affect anyone coming to the service. Parking is a little limited, although we will try and get as many cars as possible up the church drive, we can manage up to 8. Some car-sharing might be a good idea.
At present there are roadworks outside the school, where many may want to park and the road is controlled by traffic lights. This could affect anyone coming downn the back roads from Ladock, Probus or Tresillian.

A Call to Prayer
This week, a call has gone out to Christian Communities across the world to join together in praying for the peace of the world. There is a story that comes from WW2 where a whole city took to prayer for just one minute per day to pray for peace, safety and protection. The result was so astonishing that soon after the bombings had stopped. Christian communities in the UK are being asked to pause for one minute at 8.00pm each day, set an alarm on your phone, to join the world in prayer. Please pray for peace for the whole world, for wars and conflicts to end, and for the safety of all people.
APCM's
We are now in the season of Annual Parochial Church Meetings which will be held at each parish church.
-
Grampound with Creed Tuesday 14th April 7.00pm (St Crida's)
-
Probus Sunday 19th April 4.00pm (with pasty)
-
Tresillian Sunday 26th April 12.00pm
-
St Erme Thursday 30th April 7.00pm
During the APCM reports will be shared, if not before, so that all members of the church can learn what the PCC have been working on over the past year, to understand the priorities set and to work out together what the priorities might be for the coming year. This is an opportunity to ask questions and to offer support. You are most welcome to attend these meetings.
Schools Team
A reminder that I am trying to create a schools team that will engage with all our schools a couple of times around the year providing spiritual and creative ways for children to engage with the Christian faith and tradition. All roles will be safely recruited into in accordance with our safeguarding policy. Please contact Revd Caroline for more information.
Pastoral Administrator
I would like to ask if there is someone who would be willing to provide a little admin support in the pastoral work of our churches. This will require sending cards periodically around the year. For a role description and more information please contact Revd Caroline.
In Memoriam: Gill Saker
It is with great sadness that we remember Gill Saker, a much-loved and faithful member of the Probus Church congregation, who has recently passed away.
Gill was a warm and constant presence within our church family. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith touched many lives over the years. Whether through quiet acts of care, shared conversations, or her steadfast participation in church life, she brought light and comfort to those around her.
Gill will be remembered for her generosity of heart, her friendship, and her deep connection to this community. She leaves behind not only cherished memories but also a lasting example of compassion and faith in action.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday 17th April at 2:30pm at Probus Church. In keeping with the family’s wishes, those attending are invited to wear bright colours, celebrating Gill’s life and the joy she brought to others.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Gill’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
In Memoriam: David Nichols
It is with deep sadness that we remember David Nichols, a long-standing and valued member of the Probus Church congregation, who has recently passed away.
David was a familiar and much-appreciated presence in the life of our church for many years. His steady faith, quiet strength, and warm nature made him a trusted friend and a source of encouragement to many. He contributed faithfully to the life of the congregation, and his presence will be greatly missed.
Those who knew David will remember his kindness, his gentle manner, and his willingness to be there for others. He was someone who embodied a quiet devotion—both to his faith and to the community he was part of.
As we give thanks for David’s life, we hold his family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers, asking that they may find comfort and peace in the days ahead.
David will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
