Message from the Vicar
Ow sos ger,
Home groups!
Early on in Acts we are told that the early Christians began meeting together in each others homes to encourage each other, to remember the acts of witness that Jesus did, to learn from each other, how to foster the light and life of Christ in their own hearts and to spur each other on in their faith and witness. It is not a talking group but a place of safety to explore the Scriptures, to ponder on their meaning, to pray together and for each other, to support each other as each seeks to live their life in commitment to Christ. Each group consists of approx. 8-12 people, it is a place for learning together rather than ‘being led’.
Building on the success of the group in Grampound and the group in Probus, we would like to open this up and encourage people from across the churches to consider developing a home group. If you would like to know more, please speak with one of the home group leaders or myself.
Grampound with Creed meets on Thursday evenings with William Trinnick
Probus will be meeting on Tuesday evenings (fortnightly)with Scott and Sue Hall
Probus will be meeting Thursday evenings (fortnightly) with Liz and Chris Marshman
We are hoping to begin a daytime group in Tresillian, more news to follow, but if you would like to offer your home please let me know. (NB Home group leaders do need to be safely recruited as per our safeguarding policy)
You may have noticed that Probus group will be meeting - this is because the group that used to meet has had an extended summer break. We are therefore launching two new groups, one on a Tuesday and one on a Thursday.
Gras ha kres,
Caroline

As we look ahead to the readings for this coming Sunday, I invite you to pause, reflect and enter more deeply into the Word. Before the service, take time with the passage and ask the following four questions:
-
What does this passage tell me about God?
-
What does it tell me about human life?
-
If this really is God’s word, what will I do in response to it?
-
Who am I going to tell about what I have learnt from this?

Almighty and eternal God,
you have kindled the flame of love
in the hearts of the saints:
grant to us the same faith and power of love,
that, as we rejoice in their triumphs,
we may be sustained by their example and fellowship;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen

Newsletter Editor Update
We would like to inform our church family of a recent change in the editorship of our church newsletter. Matthew Hodge is now serving as the new newsletter editor. We’re grateful to him for taking on this role and look forward to the continued sharing of news, events, reflections, and benefice updates under his guidance.
If you have items you'd like to contribute—whether announcements, prayer requests, ministry updates, or stories—we encourage you to send them in!
Submission deadlines and contact details for newsletter contributions can be found at the end of this issue.
Thank you for staying connected and being part of the life of our church.

Ss Probus and Grace Church
I am currently looking to set up a small team of people who would be willing to open and close the church each day of the week.
In the past Steve as Church warden has overseen this, however, now that he has retired from this position we need to think again about how we can manage to keep the church open.
The church is widely used by everyone in the community for personal prayer, community group sessions, as well as toddler group, community larder and other things from time to time.
Responsibilities of the role would include:
-
Opening up: unlocking the door, and turning on a couple of lights inside.
-
Locking up: ensuring that no one is inside, the toilet is locked, lights are off and doors are locked.
It would be helpful to have a small team of people who would be willing either to take a day each, or a regular day...and that you might be willing to cover each other for sickness or holidays.
Please contact me asap if you can help,
Caroline

Generosity and Stewardship Matters
Financially Supporting your church
The Parish Giving Scheme is our preferred method of receiving regular giving within the churches of Probus, Ladock and Grampound. If you haven't already transferred from other forms of giving then do check out how it works through the link here or by contacting your treasurer.
Please do consider whether this is a good time to review your regular giving at the church, or perhaps you would like to plan for a future donation and leave a gift in your will. The Church of England has produced guidance on legacy giving which you can find here
