The Bells Appeal - a big ‘Thank You’.

We have been astonished at the enthusiasm and generosity that have been the hallmarks of the bells appeal so far. As many of you know, we are well on the way to meeting our fundraising target, enabling us to start the work: the bells were removed from the tower in June; there was a cameo appearance at the Fete, followed by a tremendous send-off on the journey to Loughborough at the tractor rally at the beginning of July. We are so grateful to Jonathan and the ringers, Carey and the Fete team, Stephen and the rally organisers and everyone who has been involved for making this such a successful and enjoyable community project.

A Letter from Reverend Caroline

Dear Friends,

As we move into high summer, I am minded to think about hospitality and welcome. These are core values within the Christian tradition and I hope that you will always find a warm welcome in any of the churches across the Upper Fal Parishes - Ladock, Probus, St Erme, Grampound with Creed, Tresillian and Lamorran with Merther, St Michael Penkevil.

In the church liturgical calendar we have reached the ‘green’ season, where you will see green on the lectern and the stole that the clergy wear. Green depicts a season of growth. It is a time when we explore and deepen our understanding of the Christian faith. We might join a group to explore certain books of the bible, or link up with others to deepen our own spiritual practices of prayer, hospitality, generosity. As part of the Truro Diocese we have been asked to consider how we might reach out and support different members of our communities/villages. Over the next few weeks and months we will be offering some new activities, across all our churches and if you would like to be involved please do contact me, (NB all volunteering roles are subject to the C of E safer recruitment policy). Please can I ask for your prayers as we seek to serve our communities in a variety of ways, it is uncomfortable when we try something new as we do not know how it will be received, so please do let me know if you have an idea or comment about the activity or would like to volunteer.

At Ladock we will be offering the opportunity to come into church or to have at school an ‘Experience’ day, focused around the themes of Christmas, Easter and Pentecost, supporting the schools with their curriculum and provision of collective worship.

Our focus will be on children, families and young people. We would love to hear your ideas on how we might support young adults, middle-aged adults and senior adults. You can email me directly: rector@probusteam.com ;  I look forward to hearing from you,

Grace and peace,

Rev Caroline
