The John Taylor & Co. Bellfoundry tour will take place on Thursday 28th August, starting at 1pm with the casting taking place around 3pm. Please find all the relevant information you will need before you visit and on the day of the tour, including an attached welcome letter that needs circulating to all individuals on the tour.

What to expect

The Casting Tour includes a 90-minute walking tour of the John Taylor & Co. Bellfoundry. You will get to see a glimpse of the working foundry and factory where you can learn about the bellfounding process, many of the fittings that make bellringing possible, and the heritage craft skills that are still practised and taught at Taylor’s today. Before watching a live casting take place in our historic casting hall.  A tour ticket includes entrance into the Museum, which has recently re-opened after major refurbishments.

Key points

A few key points to stress in particular:

• Visitors MUST wear flat, closed shoes (Please avoid shoes or sandals with open toes or backs), as you will be walking through a live working factory. This is a 90 minute walking tour.

• When programming your GPS, please be aware that there is a public house named “The Bell Foundry” on Swan Street in the centre of Loughborough. This is not us! We are on Freehold Street, LE11 1AR.

• We do not have a café or extensive visitor hot drink facilities.

• Nobody under the age of 9 can come on a Bellfoundry tour.
