LADOCK CHURCH

Intercessions for Pentecost Sunday 8th June 2025

Intercessions   Sunday 8th June 2025

Faithful God, we now unite in prayer, as those disciples did on the first Day of Pentecost, and open ourselves to receive the very same Holy Spirit.

Lord of Life, we pray that the Church may be alive with your risen life, refreshed and revived by the breath of your Spirit. As your church throughout the world gathers in worship and adoration, may we show the possibility of your saving love to the searching world. We pray for all who seek to live in simplicity, gentleness and reverence; for all who suffer for doing good. Bless and protect all those who spread your Word in all corners of the world, often under difficult circumstances and in many cases at a risk to their own lives.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Lord of Life, we pray for the world; your world, created by love but spoilt by our selfishness and sin. We pray for lands ravaged by polluted water, squandered resources, places where people are governed unjustly and oppressively, nations torn apart by war; its children hungry and despairing. In a moment of quiet, please pray for any country or situation in the world which is on your mind today……May your Spirit of truth and love bring peace and harmony to the world.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Lord of Life, we pray for all who have influence and authority, whether leaders of nations or local councillors where important decisions are taken, that hearts may honour what is just and true, compassionate and constructive. We pray that in all areas where there is corruption, deceit or distrust, consciences may be freshly sensitised, to know what is right and strive towards it.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Lord of Life, may we see Christ in our families, our friends and neighbours and all we meet. Help us to be channels of your Spirit in our community. We pray for all members of our congregation, for all who lead worship, for those who work unseen keeping our churches functioning, for young people and children, for frail and elderly members and those who visit them, and all those whose ministry is in the secular community. Keep us open to one another but also open to others; welcoming and accepting.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Lord of Life, we pray for all who have no knowledge of You, for Christians who have lost their way, for all whose lives are empty or filled with the trappings of this world. We remember before you all who live in fear, the persecuted, the homeless, the addicted and drug dependent, for single parents struggling to feed their children, for those living in abusive relationships and for those who will face redundancy. Pour out your Holy Spirit and shine your light on all those in various kinds of need.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Lord of life, we pray for all those entering into darkness or sickness, that in their weakness they may know your strength. We pray too for those who care for the suffering, that their compassion, patience and understanding may be constantly renewed.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Lord of life, we pray for those whose earthly life is coming to an end. May they be aware of your presence, compassion and love as they enter into new life with you. Comfort all who mourn the loss of a loved one and surround them with peace; the peace which only you can give. We pary for the soul of Stewart Grigg and for his bereaved family.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Father God, as we move forward into the busy week ahead help us to rejoice in your Holy and Life Giving Spirit. Send him again into our hearts, into our lives, and into our world.

Merciful father: accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.  Amen
