Shirley's Intercessions for Sunday 7th August 2022

Prayers for Sunday 7th August 2022. Proper 14.

Heavenly Father, help us to be still in your presence and let your love surround us as we come to you in sincere prayer this morning.

Father of all keep our church steadfast in courage and in hope of the kingdom………. Increase our faith so that we may follow the example of those who have faithfully served you through all ages.

Look with pity on our world where many are anxious for the future and live in anxiety and fear …………….. grant to our generation the saving faith that has sustained your people in the past.

As disciples of Christ let us follow and not be afraid, knowing that you will care for us if we follow in his footsteps.

Our Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things unseen. We know that God has prepared a path for each of us. Let us tread forward in faith together knowing that God is with us.

We pray for our own men and women in parliament and for prospective candidates as they seek election as our next Prime Minister. Lord, we thank you for the commitment given by so many who wish to serve for our nation in leading our us forward. We pray Lord that they will all be guided by you to make right decisions for our country and people, putting aside power, wealth, vanity and fame.

We pray for Elizabeth our sovereign Queen and her family. May she continue to reign supreme and carry out her duties as able and to delegate where appropriate to her loyal family and uphold the house of Windsor.

Lord our world at times appears hostile and we are consumed by anxiety and fear. Let us offer a prayer for those affected by wild fires, flooding, drought, famine and hunger, war and displaced refugees. Lord of compassion, be with all those caught up these circumstances.

Compassionate Lord be with those who are affected by Covid or Monkey Pox and any suffering in mind, body or spirit at this time and especially any known to us personally. We pray and offer the hand of friendship to those who are in the twilight of their lives and seek our love and reassurance.

We pray for all those recovering from surgical procedures. All those anxious about their health, and any struggling with long term health conditions. Have mercy on those who are sorrowful for the loss of things they valued. Give them strength in their trouble.

Heavenly Father have compassion on all those who are grieving and we pray this morning especially for Anne Staten and her children.

We commend into your gracious keeping all those who have died in Faith. This morning we remember the soul of your faithful servant and retired churchwarden of Probus, Neil Staten.

Grant to all who have perished the fullness of your presence for which they lived continually in hope.

May they rest in peace and rise in Glory.

Lord, accept our humble prayers that we offer this day for the sake of thy dear son Jesus Christ our Lord.
