Ladock Church Covid-19 Information

From 8th August (Saturday) we will all be legally required to wear face coverings in church. This is a change from previous weeks when face coverings were simply 'strongly recommended'. The official government statement can be found Here
In England, face coverings are currently required by law to be worn in the following settings: shops, supermarkets, indoor transport hubs, indoor shopping centres, banks, building societies, post offices and on public transport. From 8 August, face coverings will be required by law to be worn in a greater number of public indoor settings including places of worship, museums, galleries, cinemas and public libraries. Please be mindful that there are valid exemptions for some individuals and groups to not wear a face covering in these settings.

Guidelines for Ladock Church Services:

  • Everyone will be asked to use hand sanitiser or to wash their hands on arrival and before leaving,
  • Every family group or individual member of the congregation must sit at least two metres apart and so you may not be able to sit in your normal pew (!),
  • We are not permitted to sing,
  • We will follow a one way system when going to the altar for Communion and leaving the church,
  • Readings will be given by clergy  and service leaders only, pew bibles will not be available and so if you wish to follow the readings please bring your own,
  • There must be no physical contact and therefore the usual sharing of the Peace is not permitted,
  • We are obliged to record and hold the names, telephone numbers and post codes of everyone attending the service for 21 days in case anyone present falls sick,
  • There will be no passing of the collection bag; there will be a plate at the back of the church instead,
  • In theory we are allowed to serve coffee after services and we are working on this; but for the first week at least, people might consider bringing a thermos and meeting outside.
  • We are not allowed to use the children’s area unless the children are all from the same family group or school bubble,
  • See above regarding the wearing of masks
  • We have now resumed our normal pattern of Sunday services: Holy Communion at 11.00 am on the first, second and third Sundays, Service of the Word at 11.00 am on the fourth, with Evensong at 6.00 pm. There will be a Team service on the fifth Sunday.

  • I am delighted that the choir has resumed singing, albeit in a socially distanced form. They will be singing hymns and an anthem for us on the first and third Sundays as usual, starting with service this Sunday. Sadly members of the congregation are still not permitted to join in.
  • We hope to hold a scaled down Harvest service on Sunday 4 October at the usual time of 11.00 am. Further details will be released as soon as they are available.
  • Church Opening Times for Private Prayer: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from approximately 09.30 am until 6.00pm. At the moment, the Church is open for cleaning only on Saturday mornings.
