Church Notices for Sunday 18th October 2020

Notices 18 October

This Sunday’s service of Holy Communion at 11.00 am will be taken by Linda. There will also be the first Children’s Sunday Club. I reproduce the details from the forthcoming edition of the Ladock News.

Please join us every third Sunday of the month during the Church Service for Children’s Sunday Club for exciting activities, arts and crafts, games, bible stories and lots of fun in a Covid-safe environment. Numbers may have to be restricted so in the first instance please contact Roxana:’

Remembrance Sunday, 8 November

We are still hoping to be able to hold our usual Remembrance Sunday service, albeit in a modified form. There will be an Act of Remembrance at 10.50 am at the end of which will be the traditional two minute silence. This will take place at the war memorial and all are welcome to attend, providing social distancing rules (rule of six, support bubbles etc) are observed: this may mean that you will be asked to stand in the road or at some distance from the war memorial itself.

The Act of Remembrance will be followed by a service in church, accompanied by the choir. Numbers will be limited and we will be compelled to operate a first come, first served system; we will have no choice but to ask people to stand outside away once the church is at capacity. Anyone who wishes to attend the service is asked to arrive by 10.45 am.

Christmas Draw

Each year the church holds a Christmas draw following the carol service. As we don’t yet know what restrictions may or may not be imposed, this year we have decided to run the draw separately. The system will remain the same in that you put your name in a numbered box after paying your money and on draw day corresponding numbers are drawn and hopefully you will win a prize.

Any proceeds from the draw will go to church funds. This year the first prize is £50 with lots of other very nice prizes. The draw will take place outside Ladock Shop on Tuesday 15th December. Several people will have sheets with boxes to sell and they will also be available at the shop. Hopefully this will brighten an otherwise dismal year.

A reminder. We have resumed our traditional pattern of Sunday services: Holy Communion at 11.00 am on the first, second and third Sundays, Service of the Word at 11.00 am on the fourth, with Evensong at 6.00 pm. There will be a Team service on the fifth Sunday. The latest Government restrictions have not targeted acts of worship and so we are able to continue with our gradual return to something approaching normality. I am delighted to remind everyone that the choir has resumed singing on the first and third Sundays.

There is a short service of Morning Prayer at 9.00 am every Tuesday.

Full details of the online and virtual arrangements appear in the Benefice Bulletin and on our website:

Church Opening Times: The Church is open on the following days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from approximately 9.00am to 6.00pm; Saturday morning for cleaning only.

Grampound Road Chapel

For those of you who don’t know already, I  have to report that the Methodist chapel at Grampound Road is to close, the last service being on 15 November. We have had close links with the chapel for many years; we value the friendships that have been generated and hold the congregation there in our prayers.

Please free to contact me if you have any queries,

With best wishes to everyone,
