Benefice Bulletin for the Second Sunday before Advent 15th November 2020

The Benefice of Probus, Ladock, Grampound with Creed and St Erme

Heavenly Father,

whose blessed Son was revealed

to destroy the works of the devil

and to make us the children of God and heirs of eternal life:

grant that we, having this hope,

may purify ourselves even as he is pure;

that when he shall appear in power and great glory

we may be made like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom;

where he is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever. Amen

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
A reminder to you all that our churches are open daily for private prayer. We may not be allowed to gather together collectively, but we are able to worship in private. I hope and pray that you all find time to pray and read the Holy Scriptures to carry you through this difficult time. We must constantly put before ourselves that our trust is in the Lord alone, as the book of Proverbs (3:5-6) reminds us:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own insight.
In all your ways acknowledge him,

   and he will make straight your paths.

St Petroc's Collection

From Pam Dodd
Can you even imagine what it’s like to live on the streets or to have to leave your home
permanently today, with only the clothes you are wearing now? Two charities in Truro
help people who find themselves in these positions: St Petroc’s for the homeless and
the Truro Refuges. Street homeless people can develop serious problems with their
feet, during the winter in particular, as they can’t keep them warm and dry. Probus
Church helps both charities at Christmas, collecting warm, brand new socks for St
Petroc’s and brand new pants for women and men for the Refuges. Probus Church is
open every day through the lockdown and until Christmas for donations. Please only
give brand new items in their packaging and in a plastic bag and please remember
larger sizes. Place in the marked box in church, which will be emptied for quarantine
every day.
Your gift will be very gratefully received by someone who desperately needs it. Please
follow the sanitising instructions at the church door. Thank you.
