Barbara's Prayers for 4th February 2018

4th February 2018.

2nd Sunday before Lent.

We bring our prayers to our heavenly Father, believing that He created us, knowing his unconditional love for us, accepting that He knows our needs and trusting that He is working his purpose out.

Father we pray for your guidance for your worldwide church – for your comfort and support for Christians who are persecuted – for clear guidance where important decisions and choices have to be made.  In this time of Transition we especially pray for your guidance for us all in the Truro Diocese before we have a new Bishop and our own team as we look for a new Team Rector.  Bless Bishop Chris and all who are involved in these demanding times.

We pray for God’s guidance for the PCC as they meet tomorrow evening.

Lord in your mercy.  Hear our prayer.

Father God we pray for our country and all those in authority over us as they negotiate Brexit and all the financial issues we are facing.  Guide them in their deliberations and grant them wisdom and integrity.  We thank you for our democratic system and for all   who had to fight so boldly for the rights of women to vote. May we never undervalue that right nor use it carelessly.  We pray for women in parts of the world where they have no rights at all.

Lord in your mercy. Hear our prayer.

Through our redemption by our Lord Jesus Christ we ask God for his blessings on our community - here in Ladock and in Grampound Road.  We thank you, Lord, for those who ran our coffee morning yesterday and for the opportunity to meet with so many other people in friendly and comfortable surroundings.  Bless us all as we go about our daily lives - may we be worthy bearers of Christ’s name.

Father we remember our brothers and sisters who are in special need – for those who are unwell – and we think of Eileen, Hans, Luke, Colin, Richard, Stanley Matthews and Joyce Crowle who broke her shoulder yesterday, and we pray for  those who care for them.

We continue to hold the families of Henry Hoskin and Nick Karsa in our prayers and ask that you will strengthen and comfort them as they begin their future lives without their loved ones.

Lord in your mercy. Hear our prayer.

We pray for all those who have died in this past week, including Keith Morcom and his widow Frances… and this time we remember

Audrey Girling

Winnie Lutey

May they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Father in heaven – we delight in the world you have provided; for the beauty of the glorious moon which we saw last Wednesday; for the promise of warmer times to come as we see the snowdrops and the lengthening days.  May we never take these treasures for granted and adjust our lifestyles for the better preservation of all that is truly precious.

Merciful father,

Accept these prayers

for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.           Amen.
