September 2018 Newsletter from Rev Ellie Goldsmith

NEWS from LADOCK CHURCH September 2018

We hope you didn’t miss our Red Letter Day:  Wednesday, 29th August, the Induction day for our new Team Rector at Probus Church at 7 pm.  Now we are looking forward to welcoming Revd Joachim Foot and his family to each of our Churches in September.  (Some details about Joachim are on our website www.ladockchurch.org.uk.)

September is often a time for new beginnings, particularly for schools and many of our local clubs and societies.  Much as we do not like to bid farewell to August, we are often glad to welcome September:

we like the order and routines it brings; it begins ‘the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’;

it offers us new choices and opportunities.

These things are particularly true this September for Ladock Church:

          we gather, with the Choir, after holidays and time away

          we begin to look forward to the blessings of autumn (Harvest Thanksgiving 14/10 with lunch)

          we are excited about Revd Joachim’s arrival, what he will bring to our lives and community.

There will certainly be new choices and new opportunities, and we hope you will be able to explore some of these with us. Do let us know if there are particular areas of faith or Church life that you would like to investigate; this would be a good time to do that.

We all continue to learn and discover more about being Christians.  So we should probably all wear badges that say, ‘Be patient with me, God hasn’t finished with me yet!’  This is one of the wonderful things about God: ever the Perfect Gentleman, he waits for our co-operation to change and mellow us ‘from one degree of glory into another’ as St Paul puts it.  And another wonderful thing is that whatever season of life we’re in, He’s able to make us productive – beautiful and useful, adding taste and health to life and lives, ‘enriching society and strengthening community’.

We look forward to this new season in Ladock Church, and sharing it with you.
